Hand-crafted Process of Designing My Sterling Silver
Every single piece of sterling silver that I hand-fabricate starts as a plain thickness, or gauge of sterling wire. The gauges that I use depend on what I am trying to make. Most common gauges of sterling wire that I use are: 6ga, 8ga, 10ga, 12ga, 14ga and 20ga.
Gauge realtes to thickness and typically, the larger the number, the thinner the gauge. For example, I can easily bend 20 gauge wire with my fingers, while in this photo, I have to use my entire body to twist and form this pictured 8 gauge wire.
