ABOUT THE ARTIST

After 15 years of collecting and stringing other artist's beads, Kevin decided it was time to try something on his own. With no knowledge of lamp work, he purchased a book on beadmaking, obtained Italian glass through the internet and set up an old oxygen-propane torch in his backyard garage.

Through trial and error he started to manipulate molten glass into vibrant shapes and forms. He was so inspired by the glass and color that he experimented with the torch creating more and more unique designs. He worked on the torch during the only time he had - late at night after returning from his regular job as a flight attendant.

The one dilemma he faced was trying to complete the patterns with a more artistic finding, rather than the factory-made findings available. After purchasing various gauges of raw sterling silver wire and receiving some guidance from his father, he created his own artistic, superior-functioning hook design and obtained a US patent.

Kevin started wearing his designs onboard the flights he worked. Other flight attendants would ask to buy the jewelry he was wearing. Soon passengers did as well. Three short years later, Kevin quit the airline business to devote himself full time to his art.

A native Californian, Kevin resides in San Francisco with his grey cat and maintains his original shop.
